Bengaluru, Dec 9 (NationPress) Tollywood actress Kolla Hema shared a heartfelt video on Tuesday after the Karnataka High Court dismissed all accusations against her related to the 2024 rave party incident. In her emotional message, she revealed that her mother had passed away, unable to cope with the turmoil surrounding the case.
“With a heavy heart, I bring you the good news that the High Court has dismissed my case,” she expressed, breaking into tears.
In her heartfelt address, Hema stated, “Hello everyone, I am your Hema. I stand here today mourning the loss of my mother. The Karnataka High Court has quashed my case, with the verdict announced on November 3. I was advised to wait until I received the certified copy of the judgment before sharing this news.”
She revealed that her mother suffered a stroke shortly after the verdict and did not recover.
“My mother was my strength and my rock. She could not handle the emotional burden of what happened to me. The media trials and social media comments were too much for her to bear,” Hema lamented.
The actress expressed her frustration, stating that she had repeatedly urged social media users and news outlets to cease spreading unverified claims.
“I had already mentioned my mother’s ill health. Who gave the right to social media users and media houses to harass me? From the start, I have been pleading with them not to circulate false information. They escalated the situation by spreading more lies. I have always maintained my innocence, and today, I stand before you with my integrity intact. God has been with me,” she said.
She reflected on the toll the prolonged legal battle took on her life, noting, “I won the case but lost my mother forever. Can anyone bring her back? How do I move on? My life has been a nightmare for the past year and a half. I have kept my distance from filmmakers and the industry because of the propaganda perpetuated by the media,” Hema revealed.
In a significant ruling, the Karnataka High Court dismissed the drug-related charges against her in connection with the May 2024 Hebbagodi rave party. The single judge bench accepted her petition for dismissal, citing a lack of proper testing procedures and legally sound evidence. The bench, led by Justice Mohammad Nawaz, delivered the judgment.
Hema was among 88 individuals detained when the Central Crime Branch raided the rave party at GR Farms on May 19, 2024. Police alleged that MDMA and cocaine were involved in the event and charged the group under the NDPS Act. Although she underwent a medical examination at a private facility, the High Court ruled that the findings were unreliable due to the absence of standardized forensic practices in India.
The court highlighted multiple deficiencies in the investigative process, such as the lack of a national drug testing lab, the absence of established protocols for testing blood and urine samples, and the unreliability of tests performed without consistent scientific standards. Due to these issues, the bench concluded that the proceedings against the actress could not move forward.
The CCB filed charges against all 88 individuals arrested at the party, prompting Hema to seek the High Court's intervention for case dismissal.
