Actor Aparshakti Khurana has candidly opened up about the years of silence he faced from the film industry before an unlikely turning point — his wedding day — altered the course of his career. The actor made these revelations on the talk show Double Date, appearing alongside his wife Aakriti Khurana, with hosts Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi.

The Struggle Before Stardom

Long before he became a recognisable face in Hindi cinema, Aparshakti — the younger brother of Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurana — was hustling in Mumbai as a stylist. 'There was a phase when I thought, what can be one way to shift to Bombay for me. So, there was a phase when I was a stylist in Mumbai,' he recalled. He styled hosts on Bollywood shows for a prominent television channel, a far cry from the film sets he aspired to reach.

His ambitions, notably, extend beyond acting even today. He expressed a desire, after another 10–12 years, to learn tailoring — to understand how fabric is cut and stitched — suggesting a creative restlessness that has defined his path.

Unanswered Emails and Radio Days

During his time working in radio and taking on whatever small assignments came his way, Aparshakti said he repeatedly reached out to directors, casting directors, production houses, and television channels — with zero response. 'I used to text or email directors or casting directors or production houses or TV channels, no one replied to me even once,' he said.

The turning point arrived with a timing so precise it bordered on the surreal. 'The day I got married, I received replies from 3-year-old messages asking that they are now looking for a host and now if I can come and join them,' he revealed. The experience, he said, converted a self-described sceptic into a reluctant believer in luck: 'I didn't believe in lady luck at all. But then I realised aisa bhi kuch ho sakta hai.'

An Emotional Episode

The conversation on Double Date also took an emotional turn as Aparshakti spoke about his late father and shared memories tied to Chandigarh, the city where the Khurana brothers grew up. The segment underscored how personal loss and hometown roots continue to shape him beyond the glare of the film industry.

Career So Far

Since that unlikely post-wedding breakthrough, Aparshakti has built a steady filmography. He is known for his roles in Dangal, the Stree franchise, Pati Patni Aur Woh, and the critically appreciated web series Jubilee. His most recent appearance was in Jab Khuli Kitaab, a romantic comedy-drama written and directed by Saurabh Shukla, which also stars Pankaj Kapur and Dimple Kapadia as an elderly couple navigating divorce after 50 years of marriage.
