Los Angeles, Nov 5 (NationPress) Hollywood actress-singer Ariana Grande was unable to attend the world premiere of Jon M. Chu’s highly anticipated musical fantasy sequel ‘Wicked For Good’ in Brazil.
She had to cancel her trip to Sao Paulo, Brazil due to a last-minute aircraft safety concern that grounded her flight, as reported by ‘Variety’.
“Brazil, it’s hard to believe this is occurring, and I am truly heartbroken to share this message,” she expressed in a heartfelt Instagram message to her fans on Tuesday morning (Pacific Standard Time).
“Just hours ago, my team and I had to exit our flight because maintenance was required on the aircraft due to a safety issue, and it won’t be taking off until 1:00 am tomorrow,” she continued.
According to ‘Variety’, Grande, who portrays Glinda in Universal’s adaptation of ‘Wicked’ alongside Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, mentioned that despite her team and the studio's best efforts, there was no feasible way to reach the premiere on time.
“My team and Universal have explored every possible option to resolve this,” she stated. “We searched for alternative flights, whether overnight, early morning, connecting flights, commercial, or private, and absolutely nothing was viable or available that could get us there on time. Even attempting a private option requires a permit to fly from here, which takes time to obtain.”
The premiere would have been Grande’s first in-person appearance in the country in several years.
“I am devastated that I cannot be there with you all. We genuinely tried everything, and I apologize sincerely,” she added, encouraging fans to “show my incredible castmates all the love that I wish I could give you and have a wonderful celebration.”
In a subsequent post, Grande urged her followers to “not wish danger upon us or presume we didn’t make an effort” to attend the premiere.
She wrote, “Please don’t wish danger on us. We did everything possible, and I assure you no one is more disappointed than I am. Regardless of how upset or let down you feel, I implore you to refrain from wishing danger on us or assuming we didn’t try.”
“There wasn’t another opportunity for me to depart, and these arrangements have been planned for months. I concluded filming another project on the 31st and worked all day on the 1st and 2nd, just as Jonny, Cyn, and Jon have been working; we were all scheduled to leave on the same day,” she concluded.
