Music composer G. V. Prakash Kumar has revealed the creative thinking behind 'Bhabhi Tabaahi', a wedding celebration track from the upcoming Hindi film 'Nayyi Navelli', describing it as a blend of desi flavour, rhythmic unpredictability, and what he calls 'a little bit of madness.'

What the Song Sounds Like

'Bhabhi Tabaahi' weaves together Bhangra, rap, classical, and hip-hop into a single high-energy track, shifting fluidly across styles while keeping the spirit rooted in a desi celebration. The song is composed and produced by G. V. Prakash Kumar, with lyrics by Vayu and vocals by Neeti Mohan. It serves as the first proper introduction of Yami Gautam Dhar's character — the new bhabhi of the family — entering in grand style at a wedding.

'Bhabhi Tabaahi was one of those songs where we just wanted to have fun with the sound. It has a very desi flavour, but at the same time it has to feel fresh and have a lot of energy,' Kumar said. He elaborated that the team deliberately avoided predictability: 'We didn't want it to feel predictable, so we played around with the rhythm and the arrangement. Vayu's lyrics have a mischievous energy, and Neeti's voice brings so much character to the song.'

Kumar also credited Yami Gautam Dhar for bringing the song alive on screen: 'Yami also understood exactly what the song needed from her character. There's a little bit of madness running through the whole thing, which I think is what makes the song so enjoyable. It's the kind of song you can imagine playing at a family celebration, with everyone joining in,' he added.

Choreographer's Take

Choreographer Vijay Ganguly, who designed the moves for the track, described the experience as one of the most enjoyable of his career. 'Bhabhi Tabaahi was one of the most fun songs I have choreographed, and it was even more special with Yami who is playing Mohini in the film. Mohini has a distinct personality, and can change expressions and dance forms on the click of a beat,' Ganguly said.

He added that the standout moment within the song is a Devar-Bhabhi faceoff, which was embedded directly in the script's narrative. 'Yami worked very hard to make sure we could pull off long takes and brought so much spontaneity to the performance. The song and the visuals will grow on you and will surely keep you wanting to watch it again and again,' Ganguly noted.

'Nayyi Navelli' is produced by Aanand L. Rai and Himanshu Sharma, directed by Balaji Mohan, and written by Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma. The film features an ensemble cast including Addinath M Kothare, Anurag Thakur, Sunita Rajwar, Mita Vashisth, Aaditya Kulshreshth, Susmita Mukherjee, and others in pivotal roles. It is set to release in theatres across India on 16 October 2026.
