Bhuvan Bam, who portrays freedom fighter Rash Behari Bose in the upcoming Prime Video series 'The Revolutionaries', says the show is far from a conventional period drama — it is, in his words, a story of 'conflicts and a brotherhood forged in blood.' The trailer for the series dropped on Wednesday, 26 August, offering the first look at four young revolutionaries waging armed resistance against the British Raj.

A Character Built from Instinct

Bam described the challenge of playing Rash Behari Bose — a master of disguise known for infiltrating British camps — as one that demanded creative freedom rather than archival research. 'Because so little archival material exists about him, I had the freedom to build him from instinct,' he said, crediting director Nikkhil Advani's 'clarity and conviction' for giving him the confidence to explore the role.

Bam noted that what drew him to the project was precisely its departure from familiar patriotic templates. 'It isn't a conventional freedom-fighter drama. It's a story about four young heroes fighting for what they believe in,' he said, adding that he is grateful to Prime Video for bringing 'these untold stories to audiences around the world.'

The Cast and Their Characters

The series features Rohit Saraf as Sachindra Nath Sanyal, Pratibha Ranta as Pratibha Lahiri, and Gurfateh Pirzada as Bagha Jatin in lead roles. Jason Shah plays the antagonist General Dyer, with Paoli Dam and Tota Roy Chowdhury in key supporting parts.

Saraf said the role of Sachindra Nath demanded intensive physical and emotional training, pushing him 'far beyond' his comfort zone. He described his character as possessing 'childlike innocence paired with an unshakeable conviction — qualities that make him remarkably relatable even today.'

Ranta, who plays Pratibha Lahiri, said the character's relevance is immediate: 'A young, progressive woman fighting to be heard in a world shaped by men — that struggle still feels relevant today.' She added that the creative team deliberately kept the character 'grounded and human rather than larger than life.'

What the Show Is About

Inspired by true events, 'The Revolutionaries' is set against the backdrop of India's freedom struggle. The trailer positions the four central figures as armed resisters operating under the constant threat of General Dyer, who 'closes in at every turn.' The series is directed by Nikkhil Advani and will stream exclusively on Prime Video.
