Mumbai, Jan 25 (NationPress) The renowned actors Dharmendra and Satish Shah are set to receive posthumous recognition through the prestigious Padma Awards. Dharmendra will be awarded the Padma Vibhushan, while Satish Shah will be honored with the Padma Shri.

Also being celebrated is Malayalam cinema icon Mammootty, who will receive the Padma Bhushan. Additionally, acclaimed playback singer Alka Yagnik and the late advertising genius Piyush Pandey have also been chosen for the Padma Bhushan.

Both Dharmendra and Satish Shah left this world last year, with Dharmendra passing away in November and Satish Shah a month earlier.

Dharmendra, born in 1935 in Punjab, was one of Bollywood’s most cherished stars. His journey began in the early 1960s after being discovered in a talent hunt competition. In the late 1950s, a nationwide contest by Filmfare magazine in association with Bimal Roy Productions sought new talent for Hindi cinema. Dharmendra was crowned the winner in 1958, selected for his captivating looks and innate charm, which paved his entry into the film industry.

Satish Shah was a beloved character actor in Indian cinema and television, celebrated for his outstanding comic timing and versatile acting skills. He gained fame through iconic television shows like ‘Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi,’ where he portrayed multiple humorous characters, and later in ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’ as the quirky Indravadan Sarabhai. His ability to steal scenes with humor and warmth made him a household name. With a career spanning over four decades, he was a maestro of intelligent comedy in Indian entertainment.

Speaking of Alka Yagnik, she began her playback career as a child artist and rose to fame in the early 1990s. She has garnered multiple Filmfare Awards for Best Female Playback Singer and has recorded songs in various Indian languages. Her voice became synonymous with leading actresses of her time. Recently, she has been recognized for her remarkable streaming numbers on global music platforms.
