Chennai, June 23 (NationPress) National Award-winning director Sudha Kongara, currently at the helm of the highly anticipated period film 'Parasakthi' featuring Sivakarthikeyan, took to social media on Monday to commend director Nelson Venkatesan's newly released film DNA, describing it as a 'gem of a film.'
In her post on X, Sudha expressed her emotional response, revealing that she was moved to tears while watching the film.
She stated, 'Just saw a little gem of a film!! Fantastic writing as always (by) #nelsonvenkatesan and superb performances by @Atharvaamurali, #Nimishasajayan, #chetan, #Balajisakthivel and the paatti…oh my!!! Teared up and cheered with the audiences! A beauty -#DNA.'
Since its release last Friday, the film has garnered a robust opening, largely attributed to its positive word-of-mouth buzz. Consequently, more screens have been dedicated to it, and it has received favorable reviews from critics.
This gripping crime drama thriller focuses on the urgent issue of child trafficking, featuring Nimisha Sajayan as Divya and Atharvaa Murali as Anand, who confront unexpected trials.
During the film's audio launch, Atharvaa shared his enthusiasm, stating, 'Regarding DNA, even before Nelson sir narrated the script, producer Ambeth sir described the essence of the film over the phone, piquing my interest. I have always admired Nelson sir's work. In an era dominated by fast-paced films, he takes the time to explore the emotions.'
Atharvaa continued, 'When I heard the title DNA, I initially assumed it would be science fiction. However, I loved the director's explanation, stating that DNA represents the story of Divya and Anand.'
'Nimisha plays Divya, and I portray Anand. Nelson Venkatesan possesses a remarkable talent for character creation. While anyone can write a storyline, few can craft compelling characters. On set, we had complete clarity and aimed to enhance our performances, eliminating any confusion,' Atharvaa added.
The film, featuring a background score by Ghibran and tracks from five new music directors, premiered on June 20.
