Mumbai, July 10 (NationPress) Filmmaker Suneel Darshan has described actress Deepika Padukone's request for an 8-hour work shift as "unreal". In a recent conversation with IANS, the director of 'Talaash' emphasized that if an actor insists on an 8-hour shift, the producer should obtain a written assurance that the actor will be actively working throughout this duration.
He noted that if an actor can dedicate just 4 hours of focused work, the producer would be immensely pleased. Darshan stated, "The producer should first secure from her in writing that during the 8 hours she is on set, she will be taking shots. If she manages to deliver shots for even 4 hours, the producer would express heartfelt gratitude."
Labeling Deepika's conditions as unrealistic, he remarked, "I believe one should collaborate only with those who cherish your film more than you do." He reminded everyone that no one is irreplaceable, adding, "There was a time when Deepika was not part of the industry. Many new talents can emerge."
Previously, actress Chitrangda Singh also shared her insights on this topic, mentioning that it ultimately depends on the personal rapport between an actor and a director. She said, "This revolves around the mutual understanding between an actor and director, as well as the director's and producer's requirements. While they may strive to accommodate, there are often constraints like time, budget, and scheduling that make it challenging. Therefore, we should respect these factors, as time is precious in this industry—everyone invests in their projects."
She concluded, "I believe it is an individual’s choice, and Deepika is a prominent actress with the privilege to make such choices."
Deepika's demand for an 8-hour shift has ignited a significant debate within the film industry.
