Mumbai, Oct 12 (NationPress) As the chill of winter envelops the Canadian scenery, choreographer-filmmaker Farah Khan infused the vibrant spirit of Bollywood and Diwali into one of its bustling cities.

At a recent gathering, she showcased her dance skills alongside Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow. The duo delighted attendees by dancing to a classic track from the Shah Rukh Khan film ‘Om Shanti Om’.

A clip from this Diwali celebration in Toronto has emerged, capturing Farah brilliantly executing the choreography she created for her own directorial work.

Mayor Chow appeared to relish every moment on stage as they grooved to the song. ‘Om Shanti Om’ featured Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone and is set against the backdrop of the vibrant Bollywood film industry, weaving a tale of love, betrayal, and reincarnation.

The narrative follows Om Prakash Makhija (played by SRK), a junior artist in the 1970s Mumbai, who falls for superstar Shantipriya (played by Deepika), unaware of her secret marriage to producer Mukesh Mehra.

Tragically, Mukesh kills her in a staged fire, leading to Om’s death as he tries to save her. Reborn as Om Kapoor, a successful actor, he begins to uncover memories of his past life while seeking justice for Shantipriya’s untimely demise. The film combines elements of melodrama, humor, and self-referential satire, celebrating the extravagances and nostalgia of Hindi cinema.

With memorable music by Vishal and Shekhar and stunning visuals, ‘Om Shanti Om’ became a major box-office triumph and is recognized as one of Bollywood's hallmark films of the 2000s.

The film went head-to-head with ‘Saawariya’, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, which marked the debut of Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor. Ultimately, ‘Om Shanti Om’ dominated at the box office during Diwali, overshadowing ‘Saawariya’. After 18 years, the choreographer-director celebrated Diwali again in a beautiful way on Canadian terrain.
