Mumbai, Oct 21 (NationPress) Actor Gulshan Grover shared an intriguing anecdote about the legendary actor Shatrughan Sinha and his notorious habit of being late on film sets.
A recently unearthed clip from one of Kapil Sharma's shows features Gulshan recounting an experience while working alongside Shatrughan. When asked by Kapil who was the most frequent cause of delays, Gulshan responded, “Shatrughan Sinha. He's like a big brother to me, so I hope he doesn’t take this the wrong way. He was the king of tardiness. Let me share a story. Shatrughan played a pivotal role in my career, providing me with opportunities in several films. Once, while we were filming together, I informed the director that I needed to leave by 2:00 pm for another project, as it was the first day of shooting.”
He continued, “The director suggested, ‘Since you’re close to Shatrughan Sinha, maybe you can ask him to come early. I’ll let you go at 2:00 pm if he arrives on time.’ That day, we were shooting with Rishi Kapoor, Mithun Chakravorty, and myself. I went over to Shatrughan’s home the night before the shoot. He was in great spirits, and the festivities continued late into the evening.”
After enjoying the meal, Gulshan approached Shatrughan and said, “Sir, I have a small favor to ask.” Shatrughan replied, “Go ahead.” Gulshan explained, “If you could arrive by 12:00 pm, the producer will allow me to leave by 2:00 pm for my next shoot.” Shatrughan agreed, “For you, I can do that.”
However, Gulshan shared, “I was ready by 11:00 am the next day, but Shatrughan didn’t show up until around 4:30 pm. He arrived at 4:45 pm or even 5:30 pm, leisurely enjoying his tea while I was meant to be on another set.”
“Later, he pulled me aside and said, ‘Listen, the producer is taking advantage of you. Today it’s you, tomorrow it could be someone else. I’m willing to help you land five more films, but I promise to arrive on time next time,’” he concluded.
