Chennai, June 20 (NationPress) Actor and producer Koneru Lakshman Havish, whose production house was behind the blockbuster Telugu film 'Rakshasudu', has revealed exclusively to IANS that the much-anticipated sequel, 'Rakshasudu 2', will be "more intense, darker" and will delve into a new case featuring a very different antagonist.
'Rakshasudu' was the Telugu adaptation of the Tamil blockbuster film 'Ratsasan', starring Vishnu Vishal and Amala Paul. While the original Tamil version has not seen a sequel, Havish is on the path to creating a follow-up to the beloved crime thriller in Telugu.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, Havish elaborated on the inspiration behind the sequel and the current progress of the film.
"Following the release of 'Rakshasudu', the love and curiosity expressed by the audience were phenomenal. Many fans inquired, 'What happens next in Arun's life?' This sparked the idea for a sequel. We wanted to ensure that we had a compelling story that genuinely extended the character's journey," the producer and actor shared.
"We have crafted an original script that maintains the essence of a psychological thriller, but it's darker, more intense, and investigates a new case with a unique antagonist. Currently, we are in the advanced pre-production phase. The script is finalized, and we are scouting for locations. I can't disclose much, but I assure you it will be worth the wait," he added.
At this point, Havish is also engaged in a film directed by Trinadha Rao Nakkina, known for his comedic hits. Sources indicate that this upcoming film will be a full-fledged commercial entertainer featuring Havish in a significant role.
Comedy is arguably one of the hardest genres for an actor to master. When asked about his character and preparations for this film, he remarked, "Collaborating with Trinadha Rao Nakkina has been a joy—his timing, sense of humor, and character development are exceptional. My role is that of an ordinary guy who unexpectedly finds himself in outrageous situations. It's a character that audiences will relate to, but what makes it enjoyable is how his reactions and dialogues amplify the comedy."
"Regarding preparations, comedy is all about rhythm. It's akin to music—if you're off by even a second, the joke can falter. Therefore, I've been focusing on timing, body language, and even improvisation on set. We've had several rehearsals to explore various reactions to the same scene—searching for that perfect beat. It’s been creatively fulfilling and a great deal of fun!" he concluded.
Havish, confident that his character will surprise audiences, mentioned that they are aiming for a significant festive window, likely during Sankranthi or Summer next year, for the film's release.
"These are tentative plans, of course, but everything is progressing smoothly," he concluded.
