Mumbai, Jan 15 (NationPress) Playback singer Jonita Gandhi, renowned for hits like Gilehriyaan, What Jhumka, and Dil Ka Telephone, has kicked off 2025 on a high note with the release of her latest track Channa. The song poignantly conveys unexpressed emotions and unfulfilled desires.

This track combines English, Hindi, and Punjabi languages, encapsulating the bittersweet essence of love and anticipation. The accompanying music video features Gurfateh Pirzada, who recently appeared in the streaming series Call Me Bae.

In discussing the song, Jonita stated, “The song originated during a jam session with my friends Siddhant Bhosle and Soham Mukherji. I aimed to craft something soulful, genuine, and authentic to my life experiences, while also being groovy. Filming the video pushed me out of my comfort zone, allowing me to experiment with new concepts.”

She added, “This was my second collaboration with Jugaad, and I believe our director Bhavna and DOP Nirali really captured the song's narrative essence. They made me feel at ease, enabling me to express myself freely on set. It was a new experience for me to share the screen with a co-actor in one of my music videos, and I’m thankful to Gurfateh for being such a wonderful collaborator.”

Channa revolves around a breakup but transcends typical themes. It explores the transformations within a relationship when the dynamics shift, often leading to feelings of being more invested than the other party. This sense of longing and imbalance resonates with many, and I wanted the song to embody that vulnerability and honesty,” she elaborated.

Previously, Jonita opened for global pop star Dua Lipa in Mumbai. Originally from Canada, she has made a mark in the Indian film and music industries.

She has sung in various Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, along with Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati, and Bengali. Some of her most celebrated tracks include The Breakup Song and Mental Manadhil. She began her singing career with Chennai Express.
