Los Angeles, June 3 (NationPress) Singer-actress Miley Cyrus, who gained widespread recognition through the show 'Hannah Montana' at just 14, is concerned that Sabrina Carpenter might become 'fried' due to her demanding schedule.
Cyrus advocates that young performers should have access to regular therapy sessions, particularly highlighting the mental well-being of artists like the 'Espresso' hitmaker, who face intense schedules.
Speaking to the New York Times, she expressed, "Ariana (Grande) believes child actors should have therapy, and I completely agree. There ought to be a weekly check-in.”
“Since I’ve been in consistent therapy since I was around 17 or 18, I feel I’ve addressed many of the emotions tied to being a child star, and it’s less of an issue for me now,” Cyrus noted.
The “Flowers” hitmaker conveyed her concern for artists who overextend themselves. Observing Sabrina Carpenter on her relentless touring schedule reminds her of the toll it can take.
“The only thing I notice is when individuals are overworking. I’ve met Sabrina Carpenter several times, and each time I see her, I feel compelled to ask if she’s alright. I see she’s performing in Ireland, and the very next day she’s in Kansas. I find it hard to believe that’s sustainable physically, as I’ve been in similar circumstances,” she said.
“I understand what it’s like to exhaust yourself, and I want to prevent anyone else from going through that.”
Cyrus also commended the new generation of pop stars, believing they possess a greater sense of self-confidence compared to her younger self.
“I appreciate all the new girls. They are all unique and have really established themselves. That’s encouraging to see. I wish I had that level of self-awareness back then,” she remarked.
The 'Easy Lover' singer stirred controversy in 2013 with a provocative performance at the MTV Video Music Awards alongside Robin Thicke, stating that the judgment she faced during that time was highly unjust.
Reflecting on that period, she stated, "I see adults failing to act as such. I wouldn’t judge someone aged 18, 19, 20, or 21 as an adult because they aren’t quite there yet.”
“At one point, there was even a petition titled 'Millions of Moms Against Miley.' Isn’t that absurd? In 2013, that performance may have seemed shocking, but looking back, it wasn’t that outrageous. I was dressed as a teddy bear,” Cyrus added.
Cyrus expressed a desire to participate in discussions with other former child stars regarding their experiences.
“I’m curious about how Jenna Ortega perceives it. I’ve never had the opportunity to converse with her. I would love to. It would be fascinating to have a round table with those who’ve had similar experiences,” she concluded.
