Chennai, March 5 (NationPress) Director N S Ponkumar, recognized for his acclaimed period Tamil film ‘1947 August 16’, starring actor Gautham Karthik, has celebrated his marriage to girlfriend R Viveka in a splendid ceremony at his hometown of Keelakalangal in the Tenkasi district.
According to insider sources who spoke to IANS, the wedding took place at Mariyamman Kovil, located in Keelakalangal, Tenkasi District on Sunday, and was graced by close friends and family of the couple.
Before making his directorial debut with 1947 August 16, Ponkumar served as an assistant director to the renowned A R Murugadoss, contributing to films such as ‘Kaththi’, ‘Spyder’, and ‘Akira’.
The bride, R Viveka, is also involved in the film industry, having worked as an assistant director under actor and director Raghava Lawrence. She notably contributed to the horror-comedy ‘Kanchana 3’ (for both Tamil and Hindi versions) and assisted A R Murugadoss during the production of ‘Madharasi’.
Interestingly, Ponkumar was also an assistant director on ‘Madharasi’. Friends reveal that Viveka and Ponkumar's relationship blossomed from a strong friendship into love over time.
