Mumbai, June 23 (NationPress) Renowned actor Pankaj Tripathi shared his thoughts on how love in earlier times was characterized by simplicity, patience, and trust. He reminisced about his days of eagerly awaiting his future wife Mridula's call on the landline at the canteen.

When asked about the secret to a lasting marriage, Pankaj told IANS: “Back then, we didn’t have the luxury of technology at our fingertips. Our only experience with technology was through public transport.”

He elaborated that, in those times, technology was limited to vehicles like trains, buses, tempos, autos, or bikes. “We didn't carry mobile phones; we relied solely on the landline phone. The advent of mobile phones brought many changes, including social media and various apps. Now, technology is omnipresent in our lives. It wasn't like that before,” he explained.

Pankaj fondly remembered waiting for Mridula's call during his hostel days. “Every night at 8 PM, I would receive a call from her on the canteen's landline. My entire day revolved around that single call,” he recounted.

He shared how he would sit near the telephone booth, plates in hand, waiting for that precious moment. “There were no ringtones or caller IDs to indicate it was her call. We would spend the day anxiously hoping it would come,” he said.

He contrasted this with today’s world, where people constantly track each other’s locations. “This constant connectivity breeds doubt. With technology, you know where someone is, but if they don’t update you, it raises concerns.”

Pankaj emphasized that in his day, such doubts were nonexistent. “I simply waited for the evening call, and we would have our conversation,” he said.

Pankaj met Mridula at a wedding in 1993 while they were both in college and tied the knot in 2004. After relocating to Mumbai post-marriage, they welcomed their daughter, Aashi Tripathi, in 2006.

The actor is currently looking forward to the release of his new film “Metro…In Dino,” directed by Anurag Basu. This film explores modern relationships, delving into themes of love, heartbreak, and human connections.

Starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Anupam Kher, and Neena Gupta, the film is set to hit theaters on July 4.
