Los Angeles, Nov 5 (NationPress) Radiohead, one of the most significant rock bands in history, has made a stunning comeback to the stage. This event marks their first performance in seven years, kicking off with a riveting concert in Madrid.
The iconic group commenced their eagerly awaited European tour with an impressive 25-song set at Madrid’s Movistar Arena, according to ‘Female First UK’.
This concert was their first ensemble appearance since concluding their A Moon Shaped Pool tour in 2018. The acclaimed Oxford quintet, including Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Ed O’Brien, Colin Greenwood, and Philip Selway, performed on a circular stage encircled by LED walls, treating fans to a set filled with beloved hits, rare tracks, and long-forgotten gems.
The show opened with ‘Let Down’, which has recently gained popularity online, and delighted attendees with ‘Sit Down. Stand Up.’ from the 2003 album Hail to the Thief, played live for the first time in 21 years.
The setlist prominently featured songs from OK Computer and Hail to the Thief, including six tracks from each. The performance also saw the return of ‘Subterranean Homesick Alien’ after an eight-year hiatus. This reunion follows months of speculation after the band announced a limited series of shows in Madrid, Bologna, London, Copenhagen, and Berlin.
Before the tour, drummer Philip Selway mentioned that the band reunited for rehearsals “just for the hell of it,” rediscovering a shared musical bond that inspired them to hit the stage again. Attendees at the Madrid opener enjoyed a vibrant and spontaneous performance, with the band reportedly rehearsing over 65 songs and adopting a “busking approach” to the setlist each night.
This reunion follows a period of solo endeavors by all five members, including work by Yorke and Greenwood with The Smile, Selway’s solo projects, and Colin Greenwood’s photography book. Radiohead will return to the Movistar Arena on November 5, 7, and 8, after which they will head to Bologna, Italy, with four nights scheduled in each city throughout November and December.
