Is Ram Kapoor's Armaan Mistry One of the Strangest Characters He Has Played?

Mumbai, June 9 (NationPress) The creators of “Mistry” revealed the trailer for their upcoming series on Monday, adapted from the American show Monk. Lead actor Ram Kapoor discussed his character, stating that Armaan Mistry stands out as one of the most peculiar roles he’s ever taken on.

Ram expressed, “Armaan is one of the strangest, most captivating characters I’ve portrayed. His quirks serve as coping mechanisms, allowing him to impose order in a chaotic world. Paradoxically, he is the individual who dives into disorder and unearths clarity.”

He reflected that engaging in this project and stepping into the role of Mistry has been one of the most rewarding experiences of his career.

The series features Ram as the eccentric detective Armaan Mistry, alongside Mona Singh as Sehmat, his brave and astute partner. Also starring are Shikha Talsania as the vibrant Sharanya and Kshitish Date as the determined officer Bunty.

Mona Singh described her character, Sehmat, as strong, confident, and essential to the plot's development.

“She doesn’t shy away from Armaan’s eccentricities; instead, she challenges him, balances him, and even outsmarts him at times. She acts as an anchor with her own motivations and complexities. Mistry makes you laugh, then prompts reflection—and then makes you laugh again because the characters are so unapologetically themselves. I believe that's what will resonate with viewers,” she noted.

Shikha Talsania mentioned her character, Sharanya, as spirited, intelligent, and completely unfiltered. She injects a unique energy into Mistry’s universe, at times adding to the chaos and at other times grounding it.

She remarked: “As an actor, this project allowed me to delve into so much. I’ve always enjoyed a good thriller, but incorporating this kind of humor—this manic unpredictability—was exhilarating. It’s thrilling to collaborate with a team both on and off-camera that is eager to experiment. That’s what Ram, Mona, and Kshitish experienced with our fun ringmaster, our director Rishab—we got to play!”

Director Rishab Seth shared that Mistry was never intended to be a typical detective show.

“It’s a thriller that maintains a light-hearted tone while keeping viewers engaged and on the edge of their seats. What intrigued me is that it is an incredibly character-driven show. Armaan Mistry is quirky, yes, but he’s also astutely perceptive and a complete genius. This contradiction forms the essence of the show.”
