Red Lorry Film Festival Announces Thrilling Lineup for Its Second Season

Mumbai, Dec 20 (NationPress) The Red Lorry Film Festival has announced its exciting lineup for the second season.

Following a successful debut last year in Mumbai, the festival is set to return for its second year and will also extend its reach to Hyderabad. The event is scheduled to take place in both cities from March 21 to 23, 2025. The Hyderabad segment will be called Red Lorry Film Festival: Parallel Verse.

This year's festival features a rich selection of 120 acclaimed films across multiple genres and languages. Noteworthy among them is the Canadian absurdist comedy-drama "Universal Language", which has recently been shortlisted for Best International Feature Film at the Academy Awards. Another significant entry is "Hollywoodgate", a documentary that has been shortlisted in the Documentary Feature Film category. Directed by Ibrahim Nash’at, this film delves into the rise of the Taliban in post-2021 Kabul following the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan.

Other remarkable films include "This Time Next Year", a romantic comedy-drama in English; "To Die Alone", an LGBTQ+ narrative that won the Audience Award at SF Indie Fest 2024; and "Failure!", a Mexican-American crime comedy, as mentioned in a statement from BookMyShow.

The festival will also present "Mom", a psychological horror film that follows a mother as she faces her dark, hidden past in a captivating and tense storyline. In contrast, "When The Light Breaks", the opening film of the Un Certain Regard selection at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, depicts a long summer day in Iceland, moving from one sunset to another. It narrates the journey of Una, a young art student navigating through love, friendship, sorrow, and beauty.

In a statement, Ashish Saksena, COO of Cinemas at BookMyShow, shared, “For our second edition, we’ve curated a powerful lineup of films that challenge storytelling limits, examining themes of love, loss, identity, and survival. As we expand to Hyderabad while enjoying continued support in Mumbai, our aim is to craft unforgettable cinematic experiences that reveal the transformative essence of storytelling. We remain dedicated to connecting audiences with the magic of cinema in its most impactful form.”

This year, the festival introduces a new Competition Segment, designed to honor and celebrate exceptional talent and creativity in filmmaking. This segment will recognize achievements in two main categories: The Front Runners (Best Film) and Fresh Frames (Best Debut Film).
