Los Angeles, April 19 (NationPress) Filmmaker Ryan Coogler has shared new information regarding his forthcoming reboot of The X Files, which he disclosed is “immediately next” on his agenda, mentioning that he has “spoken to the great Gillian Anderson” about the series.
“She’s incredible. Fingers crossed there,” Coogler expressed during an episode of Last Podcast on the Left.
“I’ve been eager about that for a considerable time, and I’m thrilled to dive back into it. Some of those episodes, if we execute our tasks correctly, will be genuinely terrifying.
He further elaborated: “We’re going to strive to create something truly exceptional, bro, and cater to the authentic X Files enthusiasts, while also potentially attracting new viewers.”
In response to the announcement of Coogler’s reimagining, Anderson remarked that she “cannot think of a better way around for a reboot to happen,” praising the filmmaker as “a bit of a genius.”
She continued: “Whether I am involved in it is a whole other thing. I’m not saying no. I think he’s really cool, and I believe if he undertook it, it would likely be executed remarkably well. And perhaps I’ll make a brief appearance.”
Originally airing for nine seasons from 1993 to 2002, The X Files featured Anderson and David Duchovny as FBI Special Agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder, who delve into cases involving paranormal phenomena.
Alongside the feature films The X Files and The X Files: I Want to Believe, the series was revived for a two-season run from 2016 to 2018.
Last year, the original series creator Chris Carter disclosed that Coogler is “going to remount The X Files with a diverse cast” as part of the director’s five-year exclusive contract with Disney Television through his Proximity Media company.
“So, he’s got his work cut out for him because we covered so much territory,” Carter stated on the On the Coast podcast.
