Mumbai, April 4 (NationPress) The esteemed actress Saira Banu fondly reminisced about her late co-star Manoj Kumar in a touching post, sharing cherished memories from their time together on set. Reflecting on her experience working alongside him, she stated, "Shortly after my debut film, I began receiving a multitude of offers. One of them was Shaadi, a film that remains close to my heart. It was here that I was paired with Manoj ji for the first time. Back then, I was a shy and reserved young girl, often feeling quite awkward on set, especially during romantic scenes. However, Manoj ji would gracefully step away whenever my solo shots were being filmed, allowing me to feel more comfortable. Although we were both individuals of few words, there was a comforting ease in our collaborative efforts that needed no words to explain."
While reminiscing about Manoj Kumar's relationship with her late husband Dilip Kumar, Saira Banu shared, "Manoj ji held profound admiration for our Sahib. Their bond was truly beautiful, filled with moments spent cooking together, experimenting with new omelette recipes, flying kites, and engaging in sher-o-shayari for hours on end."
She also recounted a delightful memory from the filming of Aadmi, where Manoj Kumar began to unknowingly mimic Dilip Kumar’s mannerisms. "There’s a particularly endearing memory from the making of Aadmi that I cherish. Manoj ji, without realizing it, began to imitate Sahib’s mannerisms. With a twinkle in his eye, Sahib said, 'Yaar tu meri tarah shots kar le, main kuch aur tareeka nikaalta hoon!' Oh, how we all laughed; it was a moment brimming with warmth and camaraderie," she recalled.
Saira Banu further revealed that Manoj Kumar opted to shelve his film Purab Aur Paschim out of respect, in case Dilip Kumar would not permit her involvement in it.
