Recently, Javed Akhtar expressed strong views regarding Pakistan, asserting that India has consistently made efforts to improve its relations with all its neighbors.
During a book launch event alongside Shabana Azmi in Mumbai's Andheri West, he criticized Pakistan and its military's intentions.
Javed stated, "India has always made sincere attempts to enhance relations with Pakistan. We have opened cultural channels to engage with Pakistani artists. However, collaboration requires two sides; Pakistan has not made substantial efforts to improve relations."
He further emphasized that despite India's rightful claims over Kashmir, India has never been the aggressor, noting that the aggression has always originated from Pakistan.
“Kashmir remains a significant dispute. Despite our claims, we have not acted aggressively. Many question, 'Why aren't you more aggressive?' Our stance is non-aggressive. Thus, the aggression has always come from their side, which is not justified,” he stated.
One notable instance of Pakistan’s aggression towards India is Operation Gibraltar, executed by the Pakistan Army in August 1965 in Jammu and Kashmir. The operation aimed to secretly cross the Line of Control and incite an uprising among the Muslim-majority Kashmiri populace against the Indian Government.
