Shahid Gears Up for His Role as a 'Rough 90s Gangster'

Mumbai, Dec 17 (NationPress) Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor has announced that it is “prep time” as he prepares to portray an “edgy and nasty” gangster from the 1990s.
Shahid took to Instagram to share a black and white selfie after his workout, showcasing his toned biceps and a rugged beard.
In the caption, he expressed: “Prep time ...Naya saal naya maal … Next character, next film what can I do that I haven't before .......lost in the woods...... But you can't be original if you aren't ready to be lost ...... DEVA was dark and menacing yet vulnerable and noble .....
He continued: “Who will this new character be ...... No friggin clue so far....... But what a joy to discover yet again what lies within. Sliding into the edgy nasty gangster 90s.”
Reports indicate that Shahid will portray Hussain Ustara, a notorious gangster in an upcoming action thriller directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. The film also features Triptii Dimri.
Shahid, son of actors Pankaj Kapur and Neelima Azeem, is preparing for his next appearance in “Deva”, directed by Rosshan Andrrews, which stars Pooja Hegde.
The storyline revolves around a talented yet rebellious police officer who unravels a web of deception and betrayal while investigating a high-profile case.
Most recently, he was seen in “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya”, a science fiction romantic comedy alongside actress Kriti Sanon. The film was penned and directed by Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah, marking their directorial debuts. It grossed Rs 133.64 crore on a budget of Rs 45.85-75 crore, achieving commercial success and becoming the seventh highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024.
Shahid made his acting debut in the romantic comedy Ishq Vishk and subsequently faced several commercial setbacks before starring in Sooraj Barjatya's hit family drama Vivah in 2006.
He has since appeared in a variety of films, including Jab We Met, Kaminey, Haider, Udta Punjab, Kabir Singh, Padmaavat, Jersey, and Batti Gul Meter Chalu.
