Mumbai, March 14 (NationPress) The renowned singer Mohammed Rafi’s son, Shahid Rafi, made a heartfelt appearance on the popular singing reality show Indian Idol. This special episode was dedicated to his iconic father as well as the legendary singer Mukesh.

During the show, following a touching performance by contestant Tanishk Shukla, Shahid Rafi became emotional as he recounted the final moments of his father. He disclosed details about Rafi Saab’s last recorded song before his untimely passing.

In a poignant recollection, Shahid shared, “Rafi Sahab ka aakhri gaana tha and it was composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal ji, that was his last song. Do din ke baad dad expired. Ussi din rehearsal the aur rehearsal kiye unhone, rehearsal hone ke time pe unke seene mein dard utha tha. Unhone medicine liye, mumma ko doubt hua, unhone bola doctor ko bulao.”

(This was Rafi Sahab’s final song, composed by Laxmikant–Pyarelal ji; it was his last recording. Just two days later, my father passed away. On that same day, there was a rehearsal, and he managed to attend it. During the rehearsal, he felt a sharp pain in his chest. He took some medication, but my mother sensed something was wrong and insisted, ‘Call the doctor.’)

He continued, “Doctor immediately aaya, between Mahim and Bombay Hospital, when dad was travelling teen attack aaye in the ambulance. Maximum five minutes mein doctor said, sorry he is no more.”

(The doctor arrived promptly. While my father was being transported from Mahim to Bombay Hospital, he experienced three attacks in the ambulance. In no more than five minutes, the doctor regretfully declared, ‘Sorry, he is no more.’)

One of the most memorable segments of the episode occurred when contestant Tanishk Shukla performed the soulful melody 'Tu Kahin Aas Paas Hai.'

This performance resonated deeply with the audience, and the emotional atmosphere heightened when Shahid Rafi revealed that this was the last song of Mohammad Rafi's illustrious career.

Reflecting on the legendary playback singer, Mohammed Rafi is celebrated as one of the greatest voices in the annals of Indian cinema.

The legendary singer passed away on July 31, 1980, at the age of 55.
