Mumbai, Nov 10 (NationPress) The iconic superhero series from our childhood, Shaktimaan, has made a comeback in a fresh format. Pocket FM has reintroduced the show through an exclusive 40-episode audio series named Shaktimaan Returns, featuring the original star, Mukesh Khanna.
Discussing the revival of Shaktimaan, Mukesh Khanna expressed that the series was crafted to instill values like truth, selflessness, and bravery in young audiences.
“These principles are timeless. When Pocket FM approached me, I was eager to see how they would bring these ideals to life in audio form. The way they have reimagined it, with a modern storyline while retaining the core of Shaktimaan, genuinely touched me. I doubt any other production could have honored the character as well,” he remarked.
He shared his happiness in knowing that the essence of Shaktimaan remains intact, emphasizing that the show resonates with a new generation in a contemporary voice.
Rohan Nayak, CEO and Co-founder of Pocket FM, also shared insights, saying, “For many, Shaktimaan was the first hero we believed in. Reviving him isn’t about merely rebooting the 90s; it’s about demonstrating the timeless nature of Indian heroes through a modern narrative and fresh storyline.”
“For years, the focus has been on U.S. superheroes, from caped crusaders to cinematic universes. However, India has its own legends shaped by our values and imagination. Shaktimaan introduces a refreshing change with an Indian superhero who represents purpose, balance, and moral strength. We are excited to present him on Pocket FM, and this is just the start as we continue to innovate and reimagine more superheroes for our audience. Audio is a powerful storytelling medium, and this project showcases how classic Indian intellectual properties can adapt with technology and connect with new audiences globally,” he added.
In celebration of Shaktimaan's return, the creators have released a humorous brand film featuring 90s Bollywood villains — Gulshan Grover, Ranjeet, Shehzad Khan, Shahbaz Khan, and Surendra Pal. They are depicted in a state of panic upon discovering the return of Shaktimaan.
