Mumbai, July 19 (NationPress) Acclaimed filmmaker Shekhar Kapur enjoys challenging netizens with questions that provoke profound introspection.
In his recent post on X, the director shared his insights on the true essence of failure and success.
The creator of 'Mr India' asserts that failure is merely a self-judgment, as only those who evaluate themselves perceive judgment from others.
"Like waves in the ocean, the trough strives to rise to the crest, yet the crest inevitably returns to the trough. It’s all about time – how do you perceive the duration between the crest and the trough?" Shekhar expressed.
He mentioned that filmmakers frequently manipulate time, altering its perception through techniques like slow-motion.
Despite this, Shekhar confessed that they often seek their self-worth through the eyes of others, who, ironically, are also on the quest for their own value.
"Success, self-worth, failure, and the dimensions in between are merely perceptions – your own perception of yourself," he concluded.
On Tuesday, Shekhar recounted that after the premiere of his debut film, 'Masoom', he contemplated pursuing a different career, as it was initially rejected by audiences who labeled it as an art film.
"I entered the theater and found only two people inside – one of whom was me! The overwhelming emptiness was like an avalanche. I believed my career as a filmmaker was over before it even began, as Masoom was my first project. Regrettably, it was branded as an 'Article' film by black marketeers, and on that Friday of its release, theaters were empty, just like they were on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday..." he wrote.
Fortunately, the film's fortunes shifted almost overnight, securing a cherished place in the hearts of film enthusiasts.
