Is Sidharth Bhardwaj Making a Comeback to Reality TV with ‘The 50’?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Jan 26 (NationPress) Sidharth Bhardwaj, recognized for his appearances in shows such as ‘Splitsvilla 2’ and ‘Bigg Boss 5’, has shared his thoughts on making a comeback to the reality TV scene after a significant break. He revealed that the distinct and chaotic nature of the forthcoming show ‘The 50’ is what lured him back to this genre.
“After being away from reality TV for a while, I was drawn to The 50 format because it’s something unique. It hasn’t been attempted in India before. It’s chaotic and sounds like a lot of fun. I thrive in chaos, which is a major reason for my return,” Sidharth told IANS.
He further mentioned his experience with Bigg Boss, stating, “It has some similarities to Bigg Boss. My time on Splitsvilla, where forming alliances was crucial, also resembles it. That’s another reason for my involvement.”
Reflecting on his journey through reality TV, Sidharth considers himself one of the few contestants who have participated in Bigg Boss, Splitsvilla, and Roadies during their most authentic phases, believing those experiences imparted valuable lessons.
“I am among the rare contestants who faced Bigg Boss, Splitsvilla, and Roadies in their most genuine eras. It taught me that regardless of the circumstances in a reality show, it’s essential to remain composed and assess what the situation requires instead of succumbing to the herd mentality and engaging in conflicts,” he added.
Sidharth also elaborated on his absence from reality shows following Bigg Boss 5, aside from a stint on Fear Factor. He mentioned that he refrained from accepting projects that felt less significant than his previous experiences.
“Yes, after Bigg Boss 5, I didn’t engage in many reality shows, but I did participate in Fear Factor. A significant reason was that nothing seemed as grand or larger than the shows I had already participated in. I didn’t want to undertake something much smaller. We are contestants in these scenarios, and that was a major factor.”
Simultaneously, he intentionally shifted his focus to acting, exploring web series and films, as he aimed to avoid being typecast by appearing in numerous reality shows.
“As an actor, I wanted to explore web series and movies. This was another reason since participating in too many reality shows can lead to typecasting. It was a deliberate choice,” he stated.
A clip featuring former Bigg Boss 5 contestant Pooja Misra and Sonali Nagrani has recently gone viral. The phrase, “Pooja, what is this behaviour,” has entered everyday conversations, with people incorporating it into real-life situations and creating numerous memes.
“Today’s meme culture can take anything and turn it into a meme. That doesn’t concern me. I don’t dwell on the shows I’ve participated in; as a professional, you complete a project and move forward,” Sidharth concluded.
