Mumbai, July 19 (NationPress) Renowned director Sudhir Mishra has become part of the creative team for Shekhar Kapur's eagerly anticipated sequel, "Masoom: The Next Generation", taking on the role of executive producer.
In an exciting announcement on X, the celebrated director of "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi" expressed his admiration: “It’s remarkable how Shekhar creates characters and fabricates these extraordinary narratives from nothing. I haven’t encountered such a touching story in ages…it evokes a joyful ache in your heart, which is the only way I can articulate the sensation. Absolutely brilliant. I am honored to take on the role of executive producer for this project! So here it is, Masoom 2 - a film directed by @shekharkapur and E.Produced by @IAmSudhirMishra #Masoom2.”
Last November, Shekhar announced that the script for the sequel was already completed.
He emphasized that "Masoom: The Next Generation" will present a new storyline while preserving the fundamental themes that endeared the original drama to audiences.
Shekhar also confirmed that the sequel will feature Shabana Azmi and Naseeruddin Shah from the original film, along with Manoj Bajpayee, Nithya Menen, and his daughter Kaveri Kapur, among others.
Shekhar elaborated on how he persuaded his daughter to join his upcoming project, saying on his IG: “She’s an incredible singer-songwriter, and it took considerable time to convince her to act alongside me. She has finally agreed…so she will play a significant role in my next film, Masoom: The Next Generation. They say children choose their parents, and if that’s true, I am the luckiest dad in history.”
He also recounted a mishap where he lost the script for "Masoom 2" while traveling from Dubai to Delhi. After disembarking, he realized he had left the script on the plane but was relieved when a flight attendant returned it with a note praising the original "Masoom" and expressing confidence that the sequel would be equally impressive.
In the meantime, Shekhar’s last Hindi directorial effort was "Mr India", released in 1987.
