Tanisha Santoshi, daughter of veteran filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi, on Monday, 17 August shared a series of rare behind-the-scenes photographs from some of her father's most celebrated films, offering fans an intimate look at the making of Bollywood classics spanning three decades.

Iconic Frames from the Archives

Among the most striking images in the throwback carousel is a black-and-white behind-the-scenes still from the 1994 cult comedy Andaz Apna Apna, which shows Rajkumar Santoshi on set with Salman Khan and Karisma Kapoor, the director holding the film's clapboard. The film, which also featured Aamir Khan and Raveena Tandon, has grown into one of Hindi cinema's most beloved comedies over the years.

Another photograph places Santoshi alongside the ensemble cast of Khakee, the 2004 action thriller he both directed and wrote. The film starred Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and is widely regarded as one of the notable projects of Santoshi's later career.

The Sunny Deol Connection and Dharmendra's Role

The carousel also revisits Santoshi's early collaborations with Sunny Deol, beginning with his directorial debut Ghayal in 1990. A separate image highlights his long association with Dharmendra, who served as producer on both Ghayal and Barsaat — films that helped establish Santoshi as a major directorial voice in Hindi cinema.

Santoshi's filmography spans a wide range of genres, including Damini, Ghatak, China Gate, Pukar, Lajja, and The Legend of Bhagat Singh, reflecting his willingness to shift between social dramas, action films, and comedies.

Tanisha's Message: A Tribute and a Teaser

Sharing the photographs, Tanisha used the occasion to reflect on her father's career while also speaking about his upcoming reunion with Sunny Deol on Batwara 1947. In her caption, she wrote: 'After almost three decades, seeing my dad and Sunny uncle come together again feels so special. They've given us some unforgettable films together, but this time they've chosen a subject that is far more daring — one that makes us question ourselves as a society and the way we look at one another.'

She added: 'Because sometimes change begins with something as simple as one person deciding to stand up for another. And I think that is why Batwara 1947 feels so relevant in 2026. What makes this film so powerful to me is that, at its heart, it's not really a film about a border. It's about humanity.'

Batwara 1947: The Next Chapter

Tanisha also noted the involvement of Aamir Khan Productions in the project, writing: 'What stays with me is that in a story surrounded by so much hatred, my dad and @aamirkhanproductions chose to tell a story about choosing humanity instead.' She described Rajkumar Santoshi as a filmmaker who has 'never been afraid to explore something new', adding that across every film, 'his desire to connect with people and entertain them' remains constant.

She concluded her post calling herself 'forever the proudest daughter in the world', expressing hope that Batwara 1947 would entertain, provoke thought, and remind audiences 'of the kind of people we should choose to be.' The film marks Santoshi and Deol's first collaboration in nearly three decades.
