Actress Tara Sharma marked the 24th anniversary of her debut film Om Jai Jagadish on 20 July with a heartfelt social media post, recalling her nerve-wracking leap from a corporate career in London to the sets of a Bollywood film — and the co-star who made it bearable.

The Song That Made Her Nervous

Sharma singled out the song 'Chori Chori', sung by Alka Yagnik and Sonu Nigam and picturised on her alongside Abhishek Bachchan, as a moment of particular anxiety. 'A snippet from our song #chorichori @bachchan thanks for being a fab first co-actor and making me feel so at ease thanks to your constant making fun of me haaha! It helped especially when I was petrified of messing up those dance steps! So glad you're getting the acting accolades you deserve,' she wrote.

Gratitude for Anupam Kher

Om Jai Jagadish marked the directorial debut of Anupam Kher, and Sharma was effusive in her thanks. 'AKji @anupampkher ji, thanks for casting me in this. Grateful to have begun my acting-in-films journey with you,' she said. She also noted that their creative relationship extended to subsequent projects, including Khosla Ka Ghosla and its sequel, adding that she still seeks Kher's advice and admires his 'talent, positivity, humour and word game mastery.'

From London Boardrooms to Desert Dunes

Sharma described her career pivot with characteristic self-deprecation, calling it a move 'from a corporate job in London to dancing around trees — though in our case here, it was dancing in the desert dunes.' She acknowledged that despite being 'confident within,' she was 'initially a little nervy at the whole experience.' Being half-Indian and half-English, she also recalled a screening of the film for her English cousins, who 'loved it too,' noting that 'films and stories are universal.'
