Quetta, Oct 30 (NationPress) In a troubling development, two Baloch students have been forcibly taken by Pakistani security forces in Balochistan, as the crisis of enforced disappearances escalates in the region, according to a prominent human rights organization on Thursday.
The Baloch National Movement's Human Rights Department, known as Paank, reported that on October 28, two students, Bezan, just 17 years old, and Jahanzaib, aged 19, both hailing from Washuk district, have become the latest individuals to suffer this fate.
Local sources indicate that personnel linked to Pakistan's Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) carried out coordinated raids, resulting in the abduction of the two students from their residences. Since their disappearance, their location remains unknown.
As the situation in Balochistan worsens, Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ), another rights organization, condemned the enforced disappearances of four young Baloch students on Wednesday.
BVJ reported that on October 23, members of Pakistan's Frontier Corps and Military Intelligence captured Hamood Baloch, Haroon Baloch, and Fahad Baloch in the Mand region of Kech district. Moreover, on October 17, another student, Asim Nawaz, faced a similar fate in Panjgur district.
“These abductions underscore a deeply concerning pattern of state-sanctioned repression and collective punishment aimed at the Baloch community. The targeting of students and minors highlights the systematic nature of these violations,” the rights organization stated.
BVJ has called upon international human rights entities and the United Nations to urgently address these situations and compel Pakistan to cease its policy of enforced disappearances.
Meanwhile, family members and residents of Mand have organized a sit-in protest, demanding the return of their loved ones who have been forcibly disappeared. Paank remarked, “The ongoing denial of justice and accountability in cases of abductions and clandestine detentions in Balochistan represents a serious breach of fundamental human rights and international law.”
“We stand in solidarity with the affected families, advocating for truth, justice, and the prompt release of all individuals who have disappeared, including Fahad (son of Usman), Hamood (son of Muhammad Jan), and Haroon (son of Muhammad), all reportedly taken by Pakistani forces on October 23. Repeated promises of recovery without transparent actions have consistently failed the victims, exacerbating distrust and trauma within the community,” the organization emphasized.
Paank urged Pakistani authorities to put an end to the practice of enforced disappearances, ensure the safe return of all missing persons, and hold accountable those responsible.
