Quetta, May 14 (NationPress) The Baloch Women Forum (BWF) expressed strong disapproval on Wednesday regarding a recent rocket assault on the home of a civilian, Jangiyan Baloch, located in the Balicha area of Tump Tehsil in Balochistan. The forum accused local armed groups, referred to as "death squads", allegedly functioning under the auspices of Pakistan's law enforcement agencies, of executing the attack just days prior, which resulted in injuries to three members of Jangiyan Baloch’s family—his son Nawaz Jangiyan, daughter-in-law Ayesha Mulla Raza, and wife Modho Naik Bakht.

The forum asserted that these death squad members operate with impunity, undermining the social stability of the Baloch community and engaging in numerous heinous acts, including targeted killings, assaults, and the enforced disappearance of civilians in Balochistan.

"We, the BWF, unequivocally condemn the heinous rocket attack on the residence of civilian Jangiyan Baloch in Kech district's Balicha area. We view it as a direct attack on the social order and integrity of the Baloch people," the statement read.

"The perpetrators operate openly and are funded by law enforcement agencies, which allows them to wreak havoc on the societal stability of the Baloch. We emphasize that the Tump region is particularly afflicted, with death squad members freely engaging in all forms of evil, including targeted killings and civilian disappearances," the statement continued.

The forum highlighted the brutalities committed by this group, who refer to themselves as the "law and the violators", facing no accountability due to the support from law enforcement agencies. "This has led to a state of lawlessness in the region, violating the fundamental rights of citizens," the forum's statement concluded.

In light of these events, the BWF demanded the termination of illegal privileges granted to local militias or death squads, the permanent end of human rights violations specifically in Tump and broadly in Balochistan, a fair investigation into the attack on Jangiyan's residence, accountability for the perpetrators according to the law, and medical and financial support for the affected family.

Point of View

It is crucial to emphasize that the situation in Balochistan requires immediate attention. The safety and rights of civilians must be prioritized, and accountability for violent acts must be enforced. The ongoing conflict and allegations against law enforcement agencies only add to the urgency for reform and protection of fundamental human rights.
