New York, Oct 25 (NationPress) Mahant Swami Maharaj, the spiritual leader of the global BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, has received the esteemed 'Achievement in Building Better Communities' award at the Forum on Faith 2025 held in New York City.

As stated by the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, this prestigious accolade acknowledges his steadfast global leadership in promoting harmony, fortifying families, and transforming society through faith-inspired service.

"By honouring His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, the Forum acknowledged his remarkable ability to rally BAPS volunteers across the globe to engage in significant societal contributions, particularly in areas like health care, education, and disaster relief. The emphasis on youth development was particularly noted — motivating young individuals to evolve into compassionate leaders who will influence the future of their communities. His advocacy for women’s leadership and empowerment was also highlighted. Additionally, the organisers recognized his support for initiatives that foster family harmony, mental health, and resilience, equipping individuals with the values and strength to thrive together," a statement from the spiritual organization read.

The award, a striking crystal trophy emblazoned with the Forum on Faith insignia, was presented to Mahant Swami Maharaj in front of an audience filled with distinguished spiritual leaders, diplomats, public officials, business innovators, and international media representatives. This award acknowledges BAPS' remarkable and tangible contributions to human welfare and unity.

"Under the guidance of Mahant Swami Maharaj, BAPS has quickly expanded its humanitarian efforts — establishing and managing over 1,800 Mandirs and cultural centres across five continents. These Mandirs serve not only as sacred spaces but also as enriching hubs where millions benefit from youth character development programs, women’s empowerment initiatives, health and medical outreach camps, drug-free and mental wellness missions, educational advancement and career guidance, environmental stewardship and tree planting initiatives, disaster relief efforts, and the promotion of interfaith harmony in the contemporary world," the statement continued.

Signature projects like BAPS Akshardham in New Delhi, BAPS Akshardham in New Jersey, USA, and the newly inaugurated BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi stand as globally recognized symbols of peace and fraternity, welcoming individuals from all faiths and nationalities.

The Forum on Faith convened around 600 participants from various sectors, including religious institutions, government, business, academia, the diplomatic community, and civic organizations. Notable figures included Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York; retired Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer; and Kathy Hochul, Governor of New York. The event’s central theme was that faith acts as a constructive influence in society, with the potential to improve the world.
