Seoul, July 29 (NationPress) South Korea's Foreign Minister Cho Hyun expressed on Tuesday his belief that his upcoming visit to Japan prior to heading to the United States will significantly enhance not just the bilateral relationship with Tokyo, but also the trilateral cooperation involving all three nations.
Cho made this statement prior to his departure for Tokyo, where he is set to have a face-to-face meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya for the first time since assuming office last week.
The foreign ministry revealed on Monday that Cho would first visit Japan before traveling to Washington later this week for discussions with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as reported by the Yonhap news agency.
"The purpose of my visit to Japan is to enhance not only our bilateral ties with Japan, but to also boost trilateral cooperation with the US and Japan," Cho shared with reporters at Gimpo International Airport prior to his departure.
