During a press conference held outside Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, Zahid stated that Khaleda Zia is showing positive responses to the treatment administered by a specialized medical board composed of both local and international experts, as reported by local media.
"We are confident that she will recover this time and return to her normal self. She is receiving the necessary treatment under proper supervision," the physician was quoted by the Bangladeshi news outlet UNB.
He also pointed out that a medical board made up of doctors from the UK, USA, and Bangladesh is in charge of her care.
In the meantime, the BNP has expressed its appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his kind words concerning Khaleda Zia's recovery.
"The BNP sincerely thanks the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, for his thoughtful message and wishes for the swift recovery of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. We deeply value this gesture of goodwill and the offer of support," the party posted on X.
This statement followed PM Modi's expression of concern regarding Khaleda Zia's health, his wishes for her recovery, and India's readiness to provide assistance.
The 80-year-old former prime minister is facing multiple health challenges, including heart issues, diabetes, arthritis, liver cirrhosis, and kidney complications.
She is currently under close observation in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of the hospital, with both local and foreign specialists monitoring her treatment.
Reports indicate that Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital on the evening of November 23, following recommendations from the medical board, after being diagnosed with infections impacting her heart and lungs.
As her health deteriorated, she was transferred to the CCU of the hospital on November 27.
