Washington, Oct 26 (NationPress) Former Vice-President Kamala Harris has suggested the possibility of another bid for the White House, stating that she would "possibly" be President one day and expressed her belief that America will eventually have a woman in the Oval Office.
"I am not done," the former Vice-President remarked during an interview with the BBC.
"I have dedicated my entire career to a life of service, and it is in my bones," she stated.
Harris made her most definitive indication yet that she might pursue another Presidential campaign in 2028, following her 2024 defeat to current President Donald Trump, in an interview set to air on Sunday.
When discussing the possibility of running again, Harris shared that her grandnieces would "in their lifetime, for sure" witness a woman President.
"Possibly," Harris responded when asked if that woman could be her, confirming that she is still contemplating her political future.
However, she emphasized that she has not reached a final decision and continues to see herself as an active participant in US politics.
Addressing polls that show her trailing behind others for the Democratic nomination, the former Vice-President mentioned that she pays little attention to such statistics, stating, "If I listened to polls, I wouldn’t have run for my first office, my second office -- and I certainly wouldn’t be sitting here."
Following the September release of her book, "107 Days", Harris has given several interviews.
The book reflects on her experience stepping in for then-President Joe Biden as the 2024 Democratic Presidential nominee after he withdrew from the race.
Meanwhile, the political maneuvering among Democrats for the 2028 presidential race seems to be unfolding earlier than usual.
Several potential candidates, including California Governor Gavin Newsom, term-limited Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, and California Representative Ro Khanna, are already making moves to connect with voters in key states.
As the Democratic party seeks answers regarding Republican Donald Trump’s significant victory last year, much of the blame has been placed on former President Biden for not stepping aside sooner.
Questions have also arisen about whether Harris could have run a more effective campaign and presented a clearer message on the top issue, the economy.
The White House responded dismissively to Harris’s comments regarding President Trump.
"When Kamala Harris lost the election in a landslide, she should've taken the hint - the American people don't care about her absurd lies," stated spokeswoman Abigail Jackson.
"Or maybe she did take the hint, and that’s why she’s continuing to air her grievances to foreign publications."
