Jerusalem, April 4 (NationPress) The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) announced on Saturday that it has targeted significant military infrastructure throughout Tehran.

Utilizing intelligence, the IDF hit multiple defense facilities, notably an aerial defense unit associated with Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that was storing missiles designed for targeting aircraft, as stated in their release.

Additionally, a military installation responsible for safeguarding weapons research and development operations was attacked, along with another site intended for the storage of ballistic missiles and various weapons production and R&D facilities.

"These operations are part of a continuing strategy to inflict increasing damage on Iran's essential systems and structures," the statement emphasized.

This latest escalation comes in the wake of two U.S. military aircraft crashing on Friday after being fired upon by Iranian forces. One pilot from the dual-seater F-15 has been rescued, while the other remains unaccounted for, according to reports from Xinhua news agency. The recent incidents follow U.S. President Donald Trump's assertion that Iranian forces "can't do a thing about" American aircraft operating over Tehran.

Meanwhile, Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on Saturday that at least five individuals sustained injuries due to U.S.-Israeli strikes on multiple petrochemical firms in Iran's Khuzestan province.

The companies affected, identified as Fajr 1 and 2, Regal, Amirkabir, Bandar Imam, and Buali Sina, were struck at 10:47 a.m. local time (0717 GMT) on Saturday, according to the report.

Valiollah Hayati, Khuzestan's Deputy Governor for security and law enforcement, indicated that the potential for further casualties remains very high.

He also noted that the Shalamcheh border trade terminal in Khorramshahr city was attacked and suffered significant damages.

The Mahshahr Special Petrochemical Zone, where these companies are located, has been evacuated, the report added.

On February 28, Israel and the United States conducted coordinated attacks on Tehran and several other Iranian cities, resulting in the death of Iran's then Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, alongside senior military officials and civilians. In retaliation, Iran launched a series of missile and drone strikes targeting U.S. and Israeli assets in the Middle East.

Point of View
