New Delhi, Nov 14 (NationPress) In a significant development, India and the EU convened the 9th High Level Dialogue on Migration and Mobility (HLDMM) in New Delhi, expressing their contentment with the effective execution of the India-EU Common Agenda on Migration and Mobility (India-EU CAMM).
During their meeting on Wednesday, the two parties explored the Comprehensive Framework of Cooperation on Mobility and the EU's initiative to establish a pilot European Legal Gateway Office in India. This proposed office aims to serve as a centralized resource for information and assistance regarding the movement of professionals to the EU, initially focusing on the ICT sector, as noted in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) press release.
The representatives reaffirmed that migration and mobility are pivotal elements of the strategic alliance between India and the EU. They deliberated on additional initiatives and actions to fully harness the potential of cooperation in this domain.
As per MEA's announcement, "Both parties expressed satisfaction with the fruitful implementation of the India-EU Common Agenda on Migration and Mobility (India-EU CAMM) and discussed the projects highlighted in the Joint Communication on 'A New Strategic India-EU Agenda,' which was ratified by the EU Council in September 2025."
The dialogue was co-chaired by Prashant Pise, Additional Secretary (Emigration, Policy and Welfare Division), MEA, alongside Johannes Luchner, Deputy Director-General of the Directorate General for Migration and Home Affairs in the European Commission. The two sides agreed to host the next HLDMM in Belgium on mutually agreeable dates.
Attendees included the Heads of Mission and representatives from the Diplomatic Missions of EU Member States in New Delhi, the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), and various ministries including Home Affairs, Health and Family Welfare, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Commerce and Industry, Labour and Employment, and Education.
On November 13, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar engaged in discussions with the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, in Niagara, Canada, on the sidelines of the G7 Foreign Ministers Meeting. They explored avenues to deepen the India-EU Strategic Partnership.
