Moscow, Aug 13 (NationPress) The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, is set to engage in discussions with India's External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, in Moscow on August 21, as confirmed by the Russian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday. The agenda will focus on significant topics relevant to their bilateral relationship and collaborative efforts within global frameworks.
According to a post made on X by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "FM Sergei Lavrov's agenda includes a meeting with India’s FM Dr S Jaishankar on August 21 in Moscow. The discussions will cover vital aspects of our bilateral agenda along with international cooperation frameworks."
This upcoming dialogue follows the recent visit of National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, to Moscow, where he had discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, and the Secretary of the Security Council, Sergei Shoigu.
The meeting marks a continuation of exchanges between EAM Jaishankar and Lavrov, who last engaged during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Foreign Ministers' Meeting on July 15.
Previously, they also convened on the margins of the BRICS Summit last month to deliberate on topics of bilateral cooperation, West Asia, BRICS, and SCO.
Earlier this year, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri visited Moscow for Foreign Office Consultations with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko. Both nations evaluated the progress made on decisions established during the 22nd Annual Summit held in Moscow in July 2024, the meeting in Kazan during the 16th BRICS Summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Vladimir Putin, the 25th session of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological, and Cultural Cooperation which took place in New Delhi in November 2024, and other significant high-level engagements.
