New Delhi, May 7 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar engaged in discussions with foreign ministers from Japan, Qatar, Spain, France, and Germany regarding India's recent military actions targeting Pakistan-based terror camps.

During a 15-minute conversation with Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi, EAM Jaishankar expressed gratitude for Japan's strong condemnation of the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians.

Iwaya conveyed his condolences to the victims and emphasized Japan's concern over escalating tensions, urging both nations to seek dialogue for peace in South Asia. In response, Minister Jaishankar articulated India's viewpoint on the ongoing situation.

This dialogue occurred following the launch of 'Operation Sindoor' by the Indian armed forces, targeting nine significant terror locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) as retaliation for the heinous attack.

Additionally, EAM Jaishankar communicated with Qatari leaders, discussing India's strategy against cross-border terrorism.

On X, EAM stated, “Good to speak to PM and FM Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani of Qatar. Discussed India's targeted and measured response to deter cross-border terrorism.”

Discussions about India's steadfast approach to combating cross-border terrorism were also held with Spain's Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares.

Earlier, EAM Jaishankar had a joint telephonic conversation with the Foreign Ministers of France and Germany, who expressed their support following the Pahalgam attack.

In a statement, EAM noted, “Appreciated their solidarity and support in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Discussed ensuring zero tolerance for terrorism.”

The joint tri-services operation, 'Operation Sindoor', executed by the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy, commenced in the early hours of Wednesday, targeting infrastructure linked to terrorist groups responsible for the April 22 attack.

The Indian government asserted its right to respond to terrorist acts originating from the neighboring country.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, along with Colonel Sophia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, stated that India's response was measured, calibrated, and non-escalatory.

Real-time surveillance confirmed the success of Operation Sindoor, marking one of India's most assertive military responses since the Balakot airstrikes in 2019.
