Kuwait to Implement AI-Driven Cameras for Enhanced Road Safety

Kuwait City, Nov 28 (NationPress) On Thursday, Kuwait revealed its plan to deploy cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) cameras aimed at bolstering road safety and implementing traffic laws throughout the country.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) disclosed that this initiative is executed under the guidance of the Acting Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Al-Saud Al-Sabah.
In the statement, it was noted that, “The introduction of AI cameras represents a significant step toward creating a safer and more efficient road environment across Kuwait.”
Posting on X, the Ministry of Interior stated, “Based on the directives of His Excellency the Acting Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah.”
Furthermore, the ministry, through the Traffic and Operations Sector, announced the commencement of the installation of automatic monitoring cameras utilizing artificial intelligence to observe violations related to traffic obstruction and disregard for lane markings.
The AI-powered system is crafted to oversee traffic in real-time, identify infringements such as speeding, running red lights, and reckless driving, and recognize vehicles involved in these violations.
This innovative technology is anticipated to substantially diminish hazardous driving practices, promote compliance with traffic regulations, and lead to a reduction in road accidents.
The ministry urged all motorists to diligently adhere to traffic laws and collaborate with authorities. Citizens were also asked to respect lane markings and traffic signs, avoiding any activities that could infringe on the rights of fellow road users.
Highlighting the importance of traffic regulations, the ministry emphasized that compliance is vital for ensuring safety on the roads.
In the statement, it was remarked, “This comprehensive approach to traffic monitoring aims to enhance road safety standards and safeguard the lives of citizens and residents.”
The ministry reiterated that the technology aims to curb dangerous driving behaviors, enhance adherence to traffic laws, and lower the incidence of road accidents.
