Aizawl, Aug 5 (NationPress) The Governor of Mizoram, General Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd), remarked on Tuesday that the 15th position of Mizoram University (MZU) among Central Universities in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings serves as a clear indication of its excellence.
As the Chief Rector of MZU, the Governor attended a grand event at the university to commemorate its A+ Grade (CGPA 3.30) accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
General Singh (Retd) congratulated the Central University for securing the esteemed NAAC A+ Grade and praised its impressive journey since its inception in 2000 and formal operations beginning in 2001.
He emphasized the university's rise as a premier academic establishment in Northeast India and across the country, noting its regular placement among the top 100 universities in the NIRF, with a remarkable 77th rank in the latest assessment. MZU’s 15th spot among Central Universities is a testament to its consistent excellence.
The Governor expressed optimism regarding MZU’s potential for further development, encouraging the university community to strive for even greater accomplishments through determined and visionary efforts.
MZU takes pride in having 43 international students from 15 countries, showcasing its diverse and high-quality academic environment. He urged students and faculty to maintain integrity and diligence, establishing MZU as a breeding ground for ethical leaders and a future frontrunner in research, innovation, and technology.
Additionally, the Governor praised MZU’s progress in academic and research sectors, including its adherence to the National Education Policy 2020, the implementation of the Academic Bank of Credits, an h-index of 98 in research publications, and the ownership of 46 patents.
He acknowledged MZU’s pioneering initiatives in Northeast India by offering online courses through MOOCs and SWAYAM platforms, as well as launching the region's only DRDO Industry-Academia Centre of Excellence.
The Governor pointed out the university's commitment to inclusivity and sustainability, featuring a disability-friendly and eco-friendly campus, along with active participation in extension activities.
MZU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dibakar Chandra Deka expressed pride in the university being one of the few central universities in India, out of 56, to earn the NAAC A+ Grade.
