Quetta, Nov 29 (NationPress) A fresh instance of extrajudicial killing of a Baloch civilian has been reported, attributed to Pakistani forces in Balochistan, according to a prominent human rights organization.
This latest episode of violence emerges amid a persistent cycle of oppression characterized by an alarming increase in extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and torture throughout the province.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) revealed that on the morning of November 28, the disfigured body of Abu Bakr Hasil, showing evident signs of torture, was found in D-Baloch, located in the Kech district, a year after he was forcibly disappeared.
According to local sources cited by the rights group, Abu Bakr was abducted by Pakistani military personnel in the Gwadar district on November 26, 2024.
The BYC noted that Abu Bakr was an everyday Baloch citizen who made a living selling vegetables from a cart.
“The brutal treatment and death of Abu Bakr highlight the grim realities of Baloch genocide, evidenced by extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and targeted attacks on innocent, peaceful civilians across Balochistan,” the BYC articulated.
In an alarming report, the rights group indicated that on November 27, just a day after his enforced disappearance, 26-year-old Imran was also killed by Pakistani forces.
Imran, from the Tump region of Kech district, was taken from his home during his wedding festivities on November 26 by operatives from a Pakistan-backed death squad.
“Imran’s family reported that shortly after his abduction, the operatives, in collaboration with law enforcement, contacted them demanding a ransom of 20 million rupees for his release, threatening them with the delivery of Imran’s tortured body if they failed to comply. Despite managing to accumulate 7 million rupees, the family still received Imran’s mutilated body the following night in the Gomazi area of Tump,” the BYC reported.
The organization asserted that the ongoing series of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings of Imran underscores the rampant violence backed by Pakistan throughout Balochistan.
“This systematic campaign of collective punishment, executed by armed factions supported by Pakistani paramilitary forces, illustrates a broader trend of human rights abuses, including enforced disappearances, torture, and targeted killings, which contribute to a worsening humanitarian crisis in the region,” the BYC highlighted.
