Thimphu, Nov 12 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a heartfelt send-off from King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan as he left for New Delhi on Wednesday after a successful two-day visit to the South Asian nation.
As reported by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), this visit is set to further strengthen India-Bhutan ties and promote cooperation across various sectors.
Earlier that day, PM Modi participated in the Kalachakra 'Wheel of Time' empowerment ceremony at Changlimithang Stadium alongside Bhutan's King Wangchuck and the Fourth King, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, during the ongoing Global Peace Prayer Festival in Thimphu.
Over 30,000 attendees, including international visitors, were present at this sacred gathering, presided over by the Je Khenpo, the Chief Abbot of Bhutan.
PM Modi shared on X, "I was honored to inaugurate the Kalachakra 'Wheel of Time' Empowerment with His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the King of Bhutan, and His Majesty The Fourth Druk Gyalpo. The presence of His Holiness the Je Khenpo made it even more memorable. This ritual holds immense cultural importance for Buddhists globally."
He continued, "The Kalachakra Empowerment is part of the Global Peace Prayer Festival, bringing together devotees and scholars of Buddhism to Bhutan."
In Thimphu, PM Modi also engaged in discussions with Jigme Singye Wangchuck, focusing on various bilateral matters.
The MEA indicated that the Prime Minister conveyed his regards to the Fourth King on his 70th birthday and extended India's best wishes for his health and well-being.
After their meeting, PM Modi tweeted, "I had a fruitful meeting with His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. I appreciated his vast contributions over the years in strengthening India-Bhutan relations. We discussed collaboration in energy, trade, technology, and connectivity, and I praised the advancements in the Gelephu Mindfulness City Project, which aligns with our Act East Policy."
