Riyadh, May 10 (NationPress) On Saturday, Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah engaged in separate phone discussions with External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar and Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, focusing on initiatives to alleviate the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed, "Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah conducted two phone calls today with Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India, and Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan."

During these conversations, the emphasis was on efforts to de-escalate tensions and resolve ongoing military confrontations. His Highness reiterated the Kingdom’s dedication to the security and stability of the region, maintaining balanced relations with both nations, as stated by the Ministry.

This communication occurred amidst Pakistan's continued military actions targeting civilian and military structures, including religious sites in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan.

It is significant to mention that Saudi Arabia's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, visited New Delhi on Thursday to meet with EAM Jaishankar.

This visit, labeled as "unscheduled" by analysts, coincided with Pakistan's escalation of tensions at the Line of Control (LoC) following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians. In retaliation, the Indian armed forces initiated Operation Sindoor, targeting nine significant terror locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Furthermore, a statement from the Saudi Foreign Ministry indicated that Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir's trip to India and Pakistan on May 8-9 was under the directives of the Kingdom's leadership.

“This visit is part of the Kingdom’s commitment to de-escalation, resolving military confrontations, and addressing disputes through dialogue and diplomacy,” the statement noted.

In his meeting with the Saudi minister, EAM Jaishankar conveyed India's unwavering position against terrorism and discussed strategies for effectively countering it.

Saudi Arabia had previously condemned the Pahalgam terror attack in the strongest terms.

“The Kingdom stands firmly against violence, extremism, and civilian targeting. It expresses heartfelt condolences to the victims' families and to the government and people of India,” stated the Saudi Foreign Ministry.
