Cape Town, Jan 20 (NationPress) Six individuals were fatally shot and two others were injured during two distinct shooting events early Tuesday in Cape Town, South Africa's legislative capital, according to police reports.

The first incident was recorded around 2:50 am local time on Tuesday on Melck Street in Ndabeni, situated within the Maitland policing jurisdiction. Officers were notified by a passer-by who discovered a dog lying in a pool of blood, as reported by Xinhua News Agency.

Upon arrival, police found three women aged between 20 and 52, along with an adult male, inside an informal structure. All four victims had suffered fatal gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead on the scene by medical personnel.

Authorities indicated that the circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation, with no arrests made yet. Detectives from the Serious Violent Crime Unit are actively pursuing all leads.

Approximately five minutes later, in an unrelated shooting, police responded to another incident at the Maitland Cemetery along Voortrekker Road in Kensington. Four men were discovered with gunshot wounds.

Two of the men, aged 35 and 36, were declared dead at the scene, while two others, aged 31 and 32, were transported to a medical facility for treatment. Police believe that the motive for this attack was likely gang-related.

Detectives from the Anti-Gang Unit are currently investigating two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder in this case. No arrests have been made thus far.

SAPS Western Cape has expressed strong condemnation of the senseless violence that resulted in six fatalities and left two others injured during these separate shooting incidents, asserting that police will vigorously pursue those responsible with the full force of the law and remain dedicated to restoring safety in the affected communities.
