South Korean Authorities May Impose Travel Restrictions on Yoon Suk Yeol

Seoul, Dec 9 (NationPress) The South Korean authorities indicated on Monday their intention to potentially impose a travel restriction on President Yoon Suk Yeol amid investigations concerning his controversial declaration of martial law from the previous week.

Officials have also not dismissed the possibility of questioning Yoon directly.

According to Woo Jong-soo, a senior police representative, "There are no human or physical constraints on the individual under investigation," as reported by the Yonhap news agency.

Yoon's martial law announcement last Tuesday, which saw special forces deployed across the streets of Seoul, has thrown South Korea into a state of political turmoil and sparked significant concern among its major diplomatic allies and neighboring nations.

On Saturday, Yoon successfully fended off an impeachment attempt from the opposition, as the ruling party's majority opted to abstain from the parliamentary vote. However, opposition factions have vowed to present a new impeachment proposal against him within the week.
