Sydney: Gang-Related Shooting Claims Life of Man

Sydney, Dec 30 (NationPress) A man with connections to organized crime was fatally shot in Sydney, according to a police announcement on Monday.
Emergency services responded to a street in Canley Heights, located 25 km west of central Sydney, around 6:50 p.m. local time on Sunday after residents reported hearing gunfire.
Authorities in New South Wales (NSW) reported that a man in his 30s received treatment for gunshot injuries from paramedics but ultimately succumbed at the scene.
Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty indicated that the victim was reportedly involved in 'illicit drug activities' and was shot outside his family home.
Shortly after the shooting incident, emergency services received reports of an abandoned vehicle ablaze in a nearby suburb, as cited by Xinhua news agency quoting the public broadcaster ABC.
NSW Police stated, "Investigations into the incidents, which are believed to be connected, are ongoing."
This incident follows another shooting on August 26, where a man was killed in western Sydney.
According to a statement from NSW Police, emergency services were dispatched to a residence in Parramatta, a significant suburb located 20 km west of Sydney's central business district, after reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, ambulance personnel discovered a 29-year-old man with gunshot wounds. Despite treatment, he also died at the scene.
Following this, emergency responders were alerted to a vehicle fire approximately five km from the shooting location, where a sedan, previously reported stolen, was found fully engulfed in flames. Witnesses claimed to see two men fleeing in another vehicle.
NSW Police commented, "While inquiries are still ongoing, it is uncertain whether these two incidents are related. However, the fire is being treated as suspicious."
Detectives have appealed to anyone with CCTV or dashcam recordings or any information regarding either event to step forward and assist the authorities.
