Washington, Jan 3, (NationPress) In a remarkable military operation, the United States successfully seized Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his spouse, Cilia Flores, transporting them to New York to face criminal allegations, as confirmed by US officials and the President.

President Donald Trump conveyed the news via social media, stating that the United States had “executed a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro.” Trump noted that Maduro and his wife had been “captured and taken out of the Country,” asserting that the operation was conducted “in collaboration with US Law Enforcement.”

“This operation was executed in collaboration with US Law Enforcement. More details to follow,” Trump stated. He announced a press conference scheduled for 11 a.m. at Mar-a-Lago.

Vice President J D Vance highlighted that the administration had consistently warned Maduro before giving the green light for the operation. “The President provided multiple alternatives, but was very explicit about one thing: the drug trafficking must cease, and the pilfered oil must be returned to the United States,” Vance remarked.

“Maduro has become the latest individual to learn that President Trump is serious about his words,” he continued, commending the US forces involved in the mission. “Hats off to our courageous special operators for executing a truly commendable operation.”

Reports from US media, citing informed sources, revealed details of the raid. According to CNN, “Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were forcibly removed from their bedroom by US forces during the raid leading to their capture.” The couple was apprehended “in the middle of the night while they were asleep,” sources disclosed.

As reported by ABC News, Maduro is being sent to New York, where he has faced drug-related charges since 2020. Sources claimed that the Army’s Delta Forces executed the capture after the CIA pinpointed Maduro’s exact location.

Attorney General Pamela Bondi announced that both Maduro and Flores have been indicted in the Southern District of New York. “Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, have been indicted in the Southern District of New York,” Bondi remarked in a statement.

She indicated that Maduro is facing charges of “Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy, Cocaine Importation Conspiracy, Possession of Machineguns and Destructive Devices, and Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns and Destructive Devices against the United States.”

“They will soon confront the full force of American justice on American soil in American courts,” Bondi stated. She expressed gratitude to Trump “for having the courage to seek accountability on behalf of the American people,” and also commended “our valiant military for executing the incredible and highly successful mission to apprehend these two alleged international drug traffickers.”

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau characterized the event as a pivotal moment for the country. “A new dawn for Venezuela! 🙏 The tyrant is no more. He will now—at last—face justice for his crimes,” Landau asserted.

US prosecutors have long accused Maduro of orchestrating a criminal enterprise linked to cocaine trafficking and other illegal activities, with federal authorities unsealing charges against him in 2020. This case has remained a crucial component of Washington’s pressure strategy against Caracas, alongside sanctions and diplomatic actions.
