On Monday night, both groups engaged in stone-pelting and exchanged gunfire.
Roshan Kumar, the SP of Rohtas, stated, "Upon receiving reports of the clash, we deployed a significant police contingent led by Sasaram SDPO Dilip Kumar to restore order."
He mentioned that operations were carried out at various sites, including the residence of Deputy Mayor Satyavati Devi.
“We have detained over a dozen suspects. Weapons and ammunition were confiscated from the Deputy Mayor's property,” he noted.
“Some individuals are in custody, and an inquiry is currently underway,” he added.
Previously, in the Araria and Munger districts, mobs have killed two officers of ASI rank.
In light of the escalating crime rate and assaults on law enforcement, the Bihar Police has adopted a more stringent stance, empowering the state police to take decisive action against offenders.
Kundan Krishnan, the Additional Director General of Police (headquarters), declared that law enforcement will act firmly against criminals without hesitation.
ADGP Krishnan stated: "If a criminal threatens police with a katta (homemade firearm), officers are authorized to respond decisively rather than challenge them."
There are suspicions that the liquor and sand mafia are implicated in numerous recent assaults on police.
Law enforcement has encountered violent opposition from anti-social elements across various districts.
Kundan Krishnan, ADG (Law and Order), revealed that between March 13 to 15, the Bihar Police responded to over 13,000 incidents, averaging a response time of 14 minutes, and dealt with 70,000 emergency calls.
