Agartala, April 22 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, announced on Tuesday that the primary goal of the BJP government is to ensure high-quality education for students, alongside enhancing the infrastructure of approximately 123 schools and addressing the vacancies for both teaching and non-teaching personnel.
During the inauguration of the new facility at Amtali Higher Secondary School, followed by the virtual inauguration of five additional Higher Secondary Schools in West Tripura at a total investment of Rs 27.38 crore, the Chief Minister revealed that the state has established sanitary napkin vending machines for girl students across 455 schools, costing over Rs 1.31 crores.
Under the Rani Laxmibai Self Defence Training Program, self-defence instruction has been provided to 1.42 lakh girl students from 2,058 schools, as stated by Saha, who is also responsible for school and higher education portfolios.
On the occasion of 'Earth Day', he emphasized the need to protect our planet, stating, “Earth is the only home for humanity, and we must prioritize the conservation of flora and fauna.”
“Understanding the history of trees is crucial. PM Modi has consistently urged everyone to safeguard nature, and now we recognize the importance of our environment. Neglecting our ecological balance could lead to significant issues,” he remarked.
To promote environmental awareness, the Chief Minister noted that the Union Ministry of Education has introduced a QR code for identifying plant species, which individuals and students can scan from April 22 to 30.
“We need to integrate technology. The traditional methods of teaching are no longer sufficient; updates are necessary. For our state government, education remains a top priority. Without education, there can be no development or progress. Our government and education department are dedicated to enhancing education, as no state or nation can thrive without it,” Saha emphasized.
He mentioned that after 74 years of independence, the National Education Policy 2020 has been implemented, with the government focusing on digital education, including smart classrooms. Moreover, the “Vande Bharat” online channel has been launched, and 'Vidya Jyoti' schools have been established.
Saha reiterated that the current BJP government is committed to executing various initiatives effectively, ensuring that all students receive quality education.
He also declared that in the financial year 2025-26, an additional 30 schools would be launched, while the infrastructure of 67 secondary and 56 elementary schools would be improved.
“We have resolved to fill teaching and non-teaching positions,” he concluded.
